Kositzka, Wicks and Company was founded in 1983 with the goal of
providing the highest quality of professional services on behalf of our
clients. Personal service in a timely manner has formed the basis of
growth that has provided an atmosphere of challenge and an opportunity
for professional and personal advancement. Professional standards and
ethics established by the American Institute of Certified Professional
Accountants and the Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants
form the minimum guidelines under which we provide our services. Ethics
will never be compromised for monetary reward or other considerations.
Firm Growth
While we constantly strive to maintain
the close personal contact with our clients that form the cornerstone
of our philosophy we recognize the desirability of healthy, controlled
growth.
In order to continue as a viable firm in today's
increasingly complex society we are committed to the growth of
Kositzka, Wicks and Company for the following reasons:
- to grow with our clients
- to maintain independence in our relationships with our growing clients
- to be able to offer opportunities for professional development to all who work with us
- to provide for the retirement, death or unexpected loss of a principal or other key member of the firm
This philosophy has allowed us to grow from five individuals to a firm of over forty. Continued controlled growth is our goal.
Opportunity for Advancement
Great care has been
exercised in selecting and training our staff. Opportunity for
advancement is excellent because of our expanding staff requirements
created by the firm's diverse client base and continuing growth.
Professional Development
We believe in the benefits of a combination of formal and on-the-job
training and constantly strive for the most effective combination.
Entry level accountants are given one week of orientation training to
familiarize the individual with workpaper techniques, and computer
hardware and software used on the majority of our engagements.
On-the-Job Training: Entry level accountants work directly with
in-charge accountants providing them an opportunity for individualized
training and supervision. This direct supervision is supplemented by
the use of our staff manual, standard audit programs and forms, and
standardized working papers.
In-house Training: In anticipation of the tax filing season we
conduct periodic staff training sessions. At these sessions, small
groups informally discuss new technical developments, problem areas,
and plan the approach for the coming filing season.
Outside Training: The Firm participates in many professional development programs offered by state and national professional organizations.
Post Graduate Education: The Firm has a program under which we will reimburse accountants up to 75% of the tuition costs for approved graduate courses.
Mentor Program: Entry level staff are provided the opportunity
to be matched with a manager level mentor. The mentor program is an
informal structure to provide support, guidance and assistance for
staff through their career at the Firm.
Evaluations: Our training program is supplemented by an
evaluation process that includes interim and annual evaluations.
Through this program, individualized attention is provided to assist
each staff member in attaining the individual's professional goals as
well as meeting the firm's needs.
Compensation
Starting salaries are highly competitive and are determined
individually, with educational achievements, business experience, and
other pertinent factors being considered. Regular wage adjustments are
made based upon the staff member's performance. Additional compensation
is paid for any overtime performed.
Fringe Benefits
Fringe benefits include health insurance with comprehensive
medical expense benefits for each employee; group term life insurance;
paid time off; parking; profit sharing plan and 401(k) with employer
contribution; payment of professional society fees and dues; paid time
off to sit for the CPA exam; and the opportunity to pursue certificates
of educational achievement or alternative certifications in areas of
specialty. In addition, all employees may accrue one day per year, with
pay, to participate in a civic or charitable activity in the community.
